ITASCA is excited to unveil the latest evolution of IMAT (ITASCA Mining Analysis Toolbox), now with a powerful Open Pit Mining module!

With this new capability, IMAT unites open pit and underground mining capabilities in one seamless platform, delivering simple, smart, and fast numerical modeling. With integrations for seismic data, drill hole monitoring, cave beacons, tilt meters, and other third-party field devices, IMAT is your all-in-one solution for mining analysis.

Capabilities with the open pit module include:

💡 Specify stress via lithology and k-ratios
💡 Import topography and multiple pit shell geometries
💡 Define water tables (pore pressure) for each pit shell (none, fixed elevation, depth below surface, water table geometries, or MINEDW grid)
💡 Automatic geometry improvement, smoothing, and extension to boundaries
💡 Leverages automatic octree meshing
💡 Calculate factor-of-safety and plot as contours
💡 Improved import tool for block models, drill hole, seismic, and other data

✅ IMAT is a pre- and post-processor focused on large-scale mine modeling
✅ Numerical modeling is powered by FLAC3D (bundled with IMAT)
✅ Provides a clear workflow for building, solving models, and analyzing results
✅ Includes underground mining and open pit mining modules
✅ Includes many automated process and default settings to simplify, and speed-up modeling, so you can focus on the results
✅ Model a single host rock or a complex geology with many lithologies
✅ Automatically build multi-resolution octree meshes or import a FLAC3D grid from Griddle
✅ Includes elastic, Mohr-Coulomb, Hoek-Brown, and Strain-softening constitutive models
✅ Optional modules are available for seismic analysis and the IMASS constitutive model
