FLAC3D 7.0 Update

Update Instructions

This is a PRE-RELEASE version of FLAC3D 7.0. This software is feature complete and has undergone extensive testing. Updated documentation for all commands and all FISH functions is available; other documentation may have been updated. This documentation is provided as-is for the purpose of facilitating use of the pre-release; however, users may encounter content that are missing, incomplete, or even erroneous.

In the event that you experience a bug or encounter any issues with the software, we would most appreciate it if you report this to us at flac3dsupport@itascacg.com; comments and suggestions are also welcome.

If you pre-purchase FLAC3D 7, your license will also be valid for FLAC3D 6 so that you may use either one until FLAC3D 7 is officially released.

There are a couple things existing 7.0 users should be aware of:

  1. The MODEL LARGE-STRAIN command now must be given before cycling in every model. A FLAC3D model no longer defaults to small-strain. This was necessary for compatibility with PFC/3DEC which made different initial assumptions in the past. Now all of them require this to be specified explicitly.
  2. The PYTHON-RESET-STATE command is no longer stored persistently across multiple code executions.
  3. The FLAC3D 7.0 Pre-release now automatically loads PFC 7.0 Alpha and 3DEC 7.0 Alpha at startup. You can filter out the plot-items and range elements for these other products via the user-interface.
  4. The HTML help (both context sensitive and Help/Help) will now come up on top of the Control Panel instead of the browser. You can right-click there to bring it up in the browser if preferred.
