Dr. Lemos is a research engineer in the Dams Department at Laboratorio Nacional de Engenharia Civil. He has been involved in the development and application of numerical models (finite element and distinct element) for analysis of various rock mechanics problems associated with dam foundations, mines and tunnels as well as for earthquake analysis of masonry structures.
FLAC3D TMis a numerical modeling code for advanced geotechnical analysis of soil, rock, and structural support in three dimensions. FLAC3D is used in analysis, testing, and design by geotechnical, civil, and mining engineers.
This FLAC3D V7.0 training course accommodates new and experienced users. It will be based on examples that attendees will develop and run by themselves to better grasp the mechanics of using FLAC3D V7.0, the key underlying calculation principles and the spectrum of available features. Attendees are encouraged to bring one of their specific cases that may be discussed.

Christian is a mining engineer who graduated from the University of Santiago and has experience performing slope stability analyses with traditional constitutive models and also with strain softening models and time-dependent behavior. Dr. Zorica Radaković-Guzina's research has focused on the areas of structural dynamics, non-destructive characterization of concrete, damage mechanics, and wave propagation. She is responsible for FORTRAN and C/C++ programming development and support for Itasca's FLAC and FLAC3D software, and she assists with the development and testing of the Graphical User Interface (GUI) for Itasca codes.
Dr. Varun is a geotechnical engineer with specialization in earthquake engineering and soil dynamics. He has experience with analytical and numerical modeling and has been involved with projects related to seismic hazard mitigation for waterfront structures, dynamic response of foundations, site response and soil-structure interaction.
Mr. Augusto Lucarelli (Tentative) has a background in soil mechanics, numerical modeling of geotechnical processes, shallow and deep foundation design, soil improvement, slope stability, mechanized excavation, conventional tunneling in urban areas, deep excavation and support structures in difficult environments. He has numerical software experience in FLAC, FLAC3D, UDEC, Plaxis2D, Plaxis3D Foundations, Plaxis3D Tunnel, Excel and Excel VBA programming, and Autocad.
