KUBRIX is a software product used in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) and capable of automatically generating all-hexahedral, all-tetrahedral and octree meshes for Itasca’s FLAC3D software product. KUBRIX can also automatically subdivide space into a small number of convex blocks for Itasca’s 3DEC software product. KUBRIX handles non-manifold and multi-material geometries and works with most CAE software packages. KUBRIX is used by design engineers and researchers in the mining, civil engineering, petroleum, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, biomedical, and electronics industries.

Hex, Tet and Octree Meshing

Using fuzzy logic, KUBRIX automatically subdivides a closed non-manifold polysurface into a small number of blocks, and builds an all-hex mesh by subdividing each block.
KUBRIX features the state of the art in surface smoothing and remeshing, and automatic tetrahedral mesh generation.
KUBRIX can create octree meshes using low-quality CAD surface data and produce meshes and blocks for Itasca’s FLAC3D and 3DEC software products.
Integration With Most CAD Packages
With the provided scripts, KUBRIX can be launched from and used with most popular Computer-Aided Design (CAD) packages, including Robert McNeel and Associates’ Rhinoceros 4.0.
Multi-Material Meshing

KUBRIX can mesh objects composed of several materials and represented by closed non-manifold polysurfaces. The resulting mesh features coinciding nodes at material boundaries and all internal walls.
Choice of Mesh Structure
KUBRIX produces block-structured, fully unstructured, fully-structured and octree all-hex meshes, all-tetrahedral meshes and convex block decompositions.
Input and Output Format
The following triangulated surface mesh file formats are supported as input: STL, NASTRAN, PATRAB, I-DEAS, ANSYS (PREP7), ANSYSCDWRITE (CDWRITE Command), ANSYSHMTEMPLATE, ABAQUS, GRIDPRO, VRML (2.0) and ZMAP. The following output mesh file formats are supported: NASTRAN, PATRAN, I-DEAS, ANSYS (PREP7), VRML, MARC, abaqus, FLAC3D and 3DEC POLY.

Works Well With Other CAE Tools

In addition to use with a Graphical User Interface (GUI), KUBRIX can be run as a simple command-line and can easily be integrated, launched from and used with most popular CAD/CAE packages, including Robert McNeel and Associates’ Rhinoceros 4.0. KUBRIX reads input surface meshes from a wide range of CAD/CAE packages and creates mesh files in the most common commercial structural and CFD software packages.
Low-Quality CAD to Octree Mesh

With its octree meshing option, KUBRIX can handle non-closed or multiply-defined surface patches resulting from scanning and surveying operations, and produce quality meshes readily usable with Itasca’s FLAC3D and 3DEC software products for petroleum and mining applications.
Fast
KUBRIX is fast. Most "bread and butter" objects can be meshed in under a minute.
