Pingzhi (Pindar) Chen geotechnical and hydrostructure engineering. Mr. Chen has six years of experience in research and application in geotechnical and hydropower engineering, and in various engineering practices including numerical modeling, foundation pit design, monitoring and rockburst-risk assessment. Over the past three years, he has spent most of his time on site at the Jinping II Hydropower Plant, where he now leads the instrumentation and monitoring analysis for much of the Jinping II Project, including tunnels, cavern and slopes. Mr. Chen also works on the Kala Slope and Baihetan projects.

Guotao (David) Meng geomechanics & engineering geology. Dr. Meng has over 10 years of experience in research and engineering application related to civil engineering and mining. The scope of his work covers rock mass characterization, in-situ stress assessment for the development of large-scale hydropower stations, theoretic and numerical study of the behavior of columnar basalt, numerical modeling for various purposes, including verification of in-situ tests on complex ground conditions, stability of rock slopes and underground excavations, mechanisms of debris flows and landslides. Dr. Meng also has experience in on-site technical management for large-scale hydropower station construction.

Dr. Zhu has over 20 years of experience in geomechanics consulting, research and teaching in the areas of civil engineering and mining. His experiences include technical work and management. As project manager, Dr. Zhu has conducted an number of projects covering stress analysis for deep mining, group support for deep tunneling, slope stability analysis and support design, site investigation of in-situ rock mass characteristics, and in-situ stress assessment for the development of large-scale hydropower stations.
