Itasca Australia Pty Ltd was formed in 2007 to bring the advanced geomechanics consulting and software services of Itasca — Itasca Australia's parent company — to the Australian mining and civil industries.

Itasca is an international engineering consulting and engineering software development firm that specialises in solving geomechanics and hydrogeology related problems in the mining, civil, petroleum, waste isolation and defense industries. Itasca works directly with mining companies, industrial companies, government agencies and as a specialist consultant to other consulting firms. The company's roots trace back to 1981, when the first Itasca office, Itasca Consulting Group, Inc., was formed.

With U.S. offices in Denver, Houston and Minneapolis and international offices in Australia, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Spain and Sweden, Itasca offers both knowledge of local conditions and global expertise through a carefully assembled, diverse and highly qualified international staff of hydrogeologists, geological engineers, mining engineers, geotechnical engineers, civil engineers and software engineers.

Itasca is responsible for developing the most widely used geomechanical modelling programs in the world. We have complemented hands-on field experience with the software tools to provide more comprehensive practical solutions to geomechanical problems on surface and underground.
