About Itasca
Itasca is an independent, international engineering consulting and software development firm that solves hydrogeological- and geomechanics-related problems in the mining, civil, petroleum, waste isolation, and environmental industries.
With offices in Australia, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, and the United States, Itasca combines local experience with global perspective conducting a face-to-face business in the language of our clients while providing a broad base of expertise for every project by teaming engineers from offices across the world.
The company is staffed by leading engineers in the fields of rock mechanics, hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, mining engineering, and software engineering. The state-of-the-art numerical modeling codes that Itasca uses and sells for solving problems in geomechanics and hydrology are among the most widely used and respected tools of their kind. Itasca benefits from the dynamic interplay between consulting and software. The technical demands of the consulting practice primarily govern the development of software. In turn, the software is continuously developed, improved, and proven in the real-world problem-solving environment of the consulting practice.
As the result of the merger between the Itasca companies (founded 1981) and Hydrologic Consultants Inc. (founded 1989) in 1999, Itasca offers integrated hydrological and geomechanics consulting services to hundreds of clients worldwide across a spectrum that includes: mining companies of all sizes (both surface and underground), petroleum exploration companies, civil design and construction firms, government agencies, research universities, and other consulting firms. Itasca's expertise is also frequently utilized for expert testimony in litigation, due diligence reviews and audits, and for permitting and regulatory review.
