About Itasca
Itasca International Inc. is an employee-owned engineering firm that solves hydrogeological, geomechanics, and microseismological problems in many fields including the mining, civil, petroleum, waste isolation, and environmental industries.
With offices in Australia, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, India, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and three in the United States, Itasca combines local experience with global perspective conducting a face-to-face business in the language of our clients while providing a broad base of expertise for every project by teaming engineers from offices across the world.
Itasca is dedicated to providing its clients better insight into the behavior of the engineered earth environments where they operate. To do so, it maintains a staff of leading engineers in the fields of rock mechanics, hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, mining engineering, petroleum engineering, geophysics, and software engineering. The state-of-the-art numerical modeling codes that Itasca uses and sells for solving problems in geomechanics and hydrology are among the most widely used, widely respected tools of their kind. Operating as both consultants and software developers creates dynamic interplay: the technical capabilities of the consultancy are extended via direct access to the internals of the software tools it uses. In turn, the software is continuously developed, improved, and proven in the real-world problem-solving environment of the consulting practice.
Through mergers (with Hydrologic Consultants, Inc. in 1999), acquisitions (of Applied Seimsmology Consultants (ASC), 2009) and growth (four new offices formed since 2004), Itasca has developed, over a history spanning 30 years, into a firm offering integrated hydrological, geomechanics, and microseismological network consulting services to hundreds of clients worldwide across a spectrum that includes: mining companies of all sizes (both surface and underground), petroleum exploration companies, civil design and construction firms, government agencies, research universities, and other consulting firms. Itasca's expertise is also frequently utilized for expert testimony in litigation, due diligence reviews and audits, and for permitting and regulatory review.
